As above, So below
So the autumn days are now upon us-particularly in Britain; the wind has a sharp, cool breeze which makes me have to pull my scarf close. I have been suffering for the last few days with a really bad cough, subsequent of Reading festival. During the summer, I was sad and already becoming nostalgic of the summer months end and the imminent cold, but, now it is becoming cold, I am embracing it. Perhaps this is because every year with winter my fascination with witches and paganism resurfaces. I always associate winter with the time of witches, tarot and psychic readings. In recent days I have been wearing all black, with dark lipsticks and reading into my books on Paganism. I am fascinated by the beliefs of Paganism and their views on nature and it's paramount significance in the balance of all life. With the new found inspiration, I have been focusing on understanding more in depth my tarot cards and their significance in understanding my subconscious feelings and thoughts (this is so steam of conscious right now !)
There's something so aesthetically pleasing about being in a room filled with candles and tarot readings, with Kate Bush playing in the background under the full moon.
I think it's interesting how people (or maybe it's just me) are affected and inspired by the weather, which triggers a certain mood, feeling and aesthetic associated with the feeling of the either warmth or the cold.
Anyway, with this new found inspiration, it has therefore affected the direction of my online store, which I have decided I am going to be selling Palo Santo Sage Kit's; Crystals and Aromatherapy and maybe even vintage clothing. I love all these ideas which are flying around my head!
I expect this blog will take a more 'darker' vibe in the coming months, but I always feel inspired doing these posts, they seem to pull all the ideas I have in my head together into a coherent aesthetic which I can apply to my everyday life.

Dream Scape
Also I have just started reading 14,000 things to be happy about, by Barbara Ann Kipfer. I highly recommend it as it opens your eyes to what was once perhaps mundane, but, suddenly becomes beautiful and perfect in the most simplest of ways.

the forest of the night

The site freunde von freunden, a site which features creative people's homes and styles, along with amazing interviews about there lives and works. You can look at it here
From the site above I also came across the artist Lauren Spencer king and her blog which is filled with art and inspiration. She is an artist herself and her apartment is really amazing. On her blog she also does very interesting moon readings.
This month's new editor letter in Rookie magazine by Tavi was also very inspiring and touched on subjects which I have been feeling for a while, but for some reason didn't want to acknowledge. After reading it I feel motivated, but for the right reasons.
Finally this article I read in The Wild magazine was really interesting and explores what it is to be a young artist and what makes an artist in this day and age. It was interesting when thinking about technology and how in this generation everyone wants to be an artist and see's themselves as artists partly due to the influence that the internet has had to play. In some ways, it has made me reevaluate my ideas of being an artist and how I want to be portrayed within this label.

With the start of the new year comes this strange surge of universal inspiration that anything is possible. What I found to be one of my first inspirations of the new year is the novelist and poet Francesca Lia Block, the writer of the Weetzie Bat books. I read the books last summer and I was completely blown away by the style of writing the book took on and the themes and subjects which the book reflected. It was as if everything I had ever wanted in my life had metamorphosed into a book! I was immersed, and now I always go back to them for inspiration.
Her work often takes on the subject of LA, where her books take place, magic, scenery, beach life, romance, friendship, film, poetry and mythology.
Below are a collection of images-which I mainly found on Tumblr-that remind me of her books and evoke a feeling of magic and sunny LA. (if anyone knows the credits to these photos please message me so I can add them)

My favorite self portrait |
I haven't been here in a while. Life has been so busy! I went on many trips and holidays, one with my best friend where I shot a short film in Cornwall. It is in the making at the moment, and I have a shoot to go with it. I then photographed a festival as official photographer, which was amazing! I met so many amazing people, who were free and knew circus tricks, I was kind of consumed by the awesome people. So many people I relate to in one place, with great music- needless to say-I was ecstatic. Since getting back I have organised a collaboration with a designer, an amazing one too, I can't wait to do the shoot with her clothing line. In some ways I can't believe all the stuff that is happening -photography wise- I only ever dreamt of collaborating with a designer, due to being young, which I know is a weird way to think for me because I always say never let age or anything stop you from achieving your goals and dreams, but I was sceptical. But, this brand gave me a chance, and now I am confident to approach many more. I also had my first test shoot with an agency this summer, which was great, it took place in Richmond Park and the photos are up on my website. I have also changed sites to 4ormat and I am creating my new website/portfolio; it's looking rather great and I question myself why I didn't join the site earlier. So, I think that is all I have to say. Summer is sadly drawing to a close, but I am trying to train my mind to live in this creative, bubble, weird, summery state so I can live out the winter months and still be productive and not be stifled by the cold.
Here is a self portrait shoot I did this summer, my room has changed so much since then. Perhaps I am changing as a person, evolving...

I am going to try saving up as much money as possible so I can one day afford my own camper van to go travelling in. I will fill it with large cushions, sheepskin blankets, dream catcher, books, postcards from all over, crystals, incense, and writing and art materials. I have been reading many blog's and websites which talk about living this adventurous van life, and I have become completely entranced; watching videos of surfers living in their vans and travelling from beach to beach to surf the rolling waves. I hope to surf one day, so if anyone has any tips on any great surfing places and basics on surfing- other than having a surf board- I would love to know!
Great blogs for van living- http://van-life.net/ , http://dama-dig.blogspot.co.uk/ and http://www.arestlesstransplant.com/
